New Delhi, Sep 7 (NationPress) As the Vice-Presidential election approaches, BJP MPs are engaging in a series of workshops at the GMC Balayogi Auditorium within the Parliament complex, set for Sunday and Monday.
The sessions aim to enhance legislative skills, governance strategies, and political communication. Leaders will discuss methods to promote the Centre's development agenda while addressing challenges from the Opposition.
On Sunday, MPs participated in a full-day workshop, with an additional three-hour session planned for Monday.
After Monday's workshop, the MPs will convene with Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a dinner meeting.
The Vice-Presidential election is scheduled for the next day, September 9.
Discussing the initiative, BJP Rajya Sabha member Gulam Ali Khatana expressed to IANS, "The BJP is the largest party globally, and these workshops are standard practice. We will explore the responsibilities an MP bears toward the nation."
BJP MP Jagdambika Pal mentioned that the party organizes workshops to assist MPs in their constituency roles.
"In our party, workshops are conducted to instruct MPs on effectively engaging with development, public contact, and outreach. Just like refresher courses in the executive and administration, we hold these sessions periodically," he stated.
“The Bharatiya Janata Party is the only political organization that routinely conducts workshops for its MPs, MLAs, and representatives. These sessions address both national and international developments, alongside practical aspects,” Pal informed IANS.
BJP MP Chhatrapal Singh Gangwar also underscored the significance of these workshops, stating, "Today’s workshop, along with another one on Monday, is crucial as the Vice Presidential election is imminent, with voting set for September 9. It is a tradition in our party to hold briefings before voting to ensure diligence. All officials will discuss key issues with every member."
The upcoming Vice-Presidential election will be determined by an electoral college comprising 788 voters, including 543 Lok Sabha members, 233 Rajya Sabha members, and 12 nominated members.
The NDA has put forth Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan as its candidate, while the INDIA coalition has nominated former Supreme Court Judge B. Sudershan Reddy.
