New Delhi, Jan 17 (NationPress) As the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) aim to rally support by offering enticing poll incentives such as a Rs 500 LPG cylinder and free bus travel for students, senior BJP figure Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi remarked on Friday that these tactics stem from their looming defeat in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.
In an interview with IANS, Naqvi stated, “The moment has arrived for the 'Jhasa Yatra' of the broom, which commenced from Jantar Mantar, to vanish. The farewell band has already been played for them. They are aware of this reality, which is why we are witnessing such grand promises.”
“They are facing a potential defeat in the Assembly elections,” he commented, taking a swipe at both Congress and AAP.
Naqvi further underscored that the BJP is devoted to enhancing the happiness and prosperity of Delhi’s inhabitants through inclusive development.
“The BJP is committed to delivering joy to the grassroots level. Our double-engine government is genuinely working towards this aim, and once we form the government in Delhi, we will amplify this effort with even more vigor,” he declared.
The BJP leader also responded to Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav’s recent remarks regarding the Maha Kumbh Mela.
“The entire nation embraces the Maha Kumbh, yet some individuals cast doubts. These are the same people who attempt to undermine every beneficial initiative. The Maha Kumbh is the world’s largest festival of faith, organized with impeccable hygiene, security, and amenities. It is a unique event, socially, religiously, and economically. Millions will enjoy safety, comfort, and cleanliness. Those who question it should immerse themselves in the Ganga during the Kumbh Mela. Perhaps it will alleviate their negativity,” Naqvi concluded.
He further addressed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s assertion that conditions in West Bengal surpass those in Mumbai after the Saif Ali Khan stabbing incident.
“If Mamata makes such assertions, the reality will eventually surface. In Mumbai, law enforcement and agencies are undertaking necessary actions, and strict measures will be enforced against anyone found culpable. However, it would be prudent if this issue is not politicized,” Naqvi summarized.
Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan sustained injuries after being assaulted at his residence by an unidentified assailant. The actor confronted the intruder, who subsequently stabbed him multiple times during the altercation. Khan was transported to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai, where he underwent surgery to extract a 2.5-inch segment of a knife from his spine. Doctors will decide today whether he can be moved to a regular ward, but Khan has been advised to rest for several days.
