New Delhi, Jan 28 (NationPress) As the political scenario intensifies ahead of the Assembly elections in the city, the BJP has ridiculed the governing Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) regarding reports of prominent campaigners, including Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav and Trinamool Congress MP Shatrughan Sinha, who are joining its efforts to regain power in the capital.
Senior BJP leaders Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Anil Vij criticized the alliance, calling it a “Jugaad” (temporary fix) destined for failure. They stated, "The AAP boat has already sunk".
Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi stated in an interview, "This 'Jugaad' coalition is disintegrating even before the elections. If this makeshift alliance is unraveling before it reaches voters, it’s evident that they are trying to mask their failures with a political coalition."
Anil Vij was more blunt in addressing the growing divisions within the INDIA bloc.
"The AAP boat has already sunk. It doesn’t matter who joins their campaign now; their boat is doomed. Nothing will work for them, no matter what they do," the Haryana minister told IANS.
He further commented on the INDIA Bloc, asserting that the alleged bloc was never genuinely united.
"There was never any INDI Bloc," he remarked.
"We in the NDA have consistently maintained mutual understanding, whereas they have failed to do so. In Punjab, AAP contests independently and blames Congress for ruining the country, yet in other states, they ally with Congress. In Himachal, Congress itself labeled AAP a ‘dirty party.’ The term 'INDI' is misplaced here, as there is a significant gap in their unity."
AAP leaders mentioned that SP chief Akhilesh Yadav is set to join AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal for a roadshow in the Rithala constituency on January 30, alongside several other SP MPs, including Kairana MP Iqra Hasan, who are expected to support the party candidate. TMC MP Shatrughan Sinha is also anticipated to bolster the AAP campaign by participating in public events to support AAP candidates, reportedly in the first week of February.
The Delhi elections have highlighted a distinct divide within the INDIA bloc, with AAP and Congress, former allies, pursuing divergent paths. Members of the INDIA bloc, including SP, TMC, Shiv Sena (UBT), and Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction), have pledged their support to AAP, while Congress has been left isolated.
