Delhi set to elect BJP Chief Minister, remove AAP government: Harsh Malhotra

New Delhi, Dec 11 (NationPress) BJP MP representing Delhi and Union Minister of State (MoS), Harsh Malhotra, expressed his strong belief on Wednesday that the citizens of the national capital have resolved to remove the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) administration and choose a BJP chief minister in the forthcoming Delhi Assembly elections.

In a conversation with IANS, Malhotra dismissed the significance of party-switching candidates, claiming that such occurrences will not hinder the BJP's chances. He criticized the AAP's candidate selection process, deeming it a reflection of the party's waning credibility.

"The AAP's ship appears to be sinking. Among the 31 candidates announced, they have denied tickets to 15 sitting MLAs, including prominent figures like Manish Sisodia, who previously boasted of his so-called 'education model,' which he now admits is subpar. Sisodia has deserted his constituency for another seat. Similarly, Rakhi Birla has also abandoned her position. This is clear evidence that they recognize their MLAs have not performed effectively," Malhotra asserted.

The BJP leader accused the AAP government of failing Delhi over the last decade.

"After 10 years, they still haven't provided clean drinking water. Residents in slum areas, promised free electricity, are receiving bills ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000. The public has seen through their grandiose claims and will choose a BJP chief minister this time," he noted.

On Tuesday, Abdul Rehman, the AAP's Seelampur MLA, became the first sitting member to exit the party after being denied a ticket, subsequently joining Congress.

In response, Malhotra commented, "Opportunists are departing AAP to align with parties they believe will assist them in winning. However, this has no impact on the BJP. Our priority is serving the people and advancing the development initiatives initiated by the Modi government."

Malhotra emphasized the BJP's achievements under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's guidance, highlighting the party's repeated victories in states like Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, and Chhattisgarh.

"Our administrations in NDA-led states have consistently prioritized public welfare. This commitment has resulted in successive victories in state elections, and Delhi will be no exception. The populace has come to realize that the BJP is the sole party devoted to development and governance," the MoS asserted.

The upcoming Delhi Assembly elections are poised to be a significant showdown, with the BJP striving to unseat the AAP, which currently dominates with 62 out of 70 Assembly seats. The AAP has announced 31 candidates to date, dropping 16 sitting MLAs, a strategy interpreted by critics as an effort to mitigate anti-incumbency.
