Amethi, April 30 (NationPress) On Wednesday, BJP activists set fire to an effigy of the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, upon his arrival in Amethi. The incident occurred outside a guest house located near Sanjay Gandhi Hospital.

To maintain order, a significant police presence was deployed and successfully calmed the protesters prior to Gandhi's entrance.

Rahul Gandhi was in Amethi for a single-day visit to inaugurate the open-heart surgery operation theatre at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, which is overseen by the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Trust. As a trustee of the hospital, he was welcomed by hundreds of supporters adorned with garlands during a brief stop in Jais town.

On the previous day, Gandhi had visited his Raebareli constituency, where he led a District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting at Bachat Bhawan. Here, he assessed development projects and engaged in discussions with officials from 78 different departments.

During his visit, he also unveiled a solar power and EV charging station, revealed a statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in Bachhrawan, and distributed 15 hand carts to underprivileged residents. Additionally, he toured the rail coach factory in Lalganj and addressed party members in the Sareni Assembly area.

A political controversy arose in Raebareli as BJP Yuva Morcha leaders displayed posters targeting Gandhi regarding his advocacy for a caste census. These posters, spotted in Harchandpur, stated: “You would divide using casteism, we will unite using nationalism. Please spare our Raebareli of caste-based politics.”

Rahul Gandhi successfully secured the Raebareli Lok Sabha seat in the 2024 elections, defeating BJP’s Dinesh Pratap Singh by a margin of 3.9 lakh votes and achieving a 66.17 percent vote share, thereby reclaiming the Congress bastion once held by his mother, Sonia Gandhi.

Gandhi's victory from Raebareli, a seat long represented by his mother and former Congress President, Sonia Gandhi, occurred during the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

Point of View

It's essential to remain neutral in this politically charged atmosphere. The actions of BJP activists reflect deep-seated tensions that are increasingly prominent in Indian politics. Whereas Rahul Gandhi's efforts in his constituency aim to address local issues, reactions like these highlight the polarized nature of our political landscape. Our commitment is to provide comprehensive coverage of both perspectives.
