New Delhi, Aug 17 (NationPress) The BJP has mounted a vigorous defense against the Congress and RJD, who have leveled accusations regarding electoral roll manipulation. Party representatives have characterized Rahul Gandhi’s assertions as “groundless lies” designed to compromise democratic institutions in the lead-up to the Bihar elections.
BJP national spokesperson Syed Zafar Islam, addressing IANS in Mumbai, emphasized that the Election Commission (EC) operates as an independent entity and should not be embroiled in partisan politics.
“The Election Commission is an independent body, and all institutions and political parties are treated equally. It functions without external interference. Making such claims against it is inappropriate. The EC has explicitly stated that if anyone makes false allegations, they should provide evidence. If there’s no proof, they should take their claims to court. Without evidence, such statements are deemed unfounded,” Islam commented.
Commenting on Rahul Gandhi’s Voter Adhikar Yatra, Zafar Islam took a jab at the Congress leader, saying, “Wherever Rahul Gandhi has campaigned, Congress has faced a total defeat. Now that he has entered Bihar, Congress is likely to encounter the same destiny here.”
In Patna, BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain praised the EC’s comprehensive press briefing on Sunday, asserting it provided a “robust response” to those “instigating unrest.”
“The names that needed to be collected have been gathered, and if any names are still missing, there is still time to submit the forms,” Hussain remarked to IANS.
The saffron party has also ramped up its digital campaign, with BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari releasing a detailed rebuttal on X to counter Congress leader Jairam Ramesh’s statements.
Bhandari accused Rahul Gandhi of “undermining public confidence in elections by spreading falsehoods” and challenged him to submit an affidavit under oath if he genuinely believes in his allegations.
The BJP’s assertive response suggests it is determined to maintain its stance on election integrity, with its leaders accusing the Congress of intentionally creating doubt as the Bihar polls approach.
