New Delhi, June 12 (NationPress) The BJP on Thursday condemned former Maharashtra Congress chief and MLA Nana Patole for comparing Operation Sindoor to a “children's computer game.”
The BJP accused Patole and the Congress party of continually showing disrespect towards the Indian armed forces, asserting that this behaviour has become ingrained in the party's identity. They suggested that the tendency to insult the armed forces seems to be inherent within Congress.
Patole stated, “Former US President Donald Trump had frequently warned both India and Pakistan that the US would cease trade with them unless they reached a ceasefire. The operation was halted at his command, indicating that it was merely a game—similar to the video games played by children.”
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla commented, “This kind of insult to the military has become synonymous with Congress. From referring to the army chief as a ‘street thug’ to branding surgical strikes as ‘blood for votes,’ Congress has persistently sought to undermine our military's morale.”
He continued, “During the Balakot airstrike, they dismissed it as a political maneuver. Now, when our soldiers have bravely responded under Operation Sindoor, and the nation stands proud, they once again trivialize it—first by deeming it a failure and now by likening it to a video game. This is not mere coincidence; it’s a calculated narrative. Following the Pahalgam attack, Congress gave Pakistan a pass. They described Operation Sindoor as a surrender. Now they insult it yet again, while also equating MPs to terrorists post-diplomatic strike. This isn’t criticism—it’s a consistent pattern of praising Pakistan while disparaging India’s institutions.”
Another BJP leader, Syed Zafar Islam, remarked, “It appears that insulting the armed forces is deep-rooted in Congress. The Indian Army showed remarkable bravery during Operation Sindoor. By making such comments, Congress is purposefully attempting to undermine our soldiers' morale. Fortunately, the public has reacted to this kind of behaviour, which is why Congress continues to lose ground. They seem to require a badge for their insults towards the armed forces.”
In response to the uproar, Congress distanced itself from Patole’s remarks.
Senior Congress leader Tariq Anwar said, “This seems to be his personal viewpoint. The Congress party has always respected and supported the bravery of the Indian armed forces. Nonetheless, it is also true that the perpetrators behind the attack remain at large. Every citizen deserves to know their whereabouts and why they haven’t been apprehended.”
