Bengaluru, March 7 (NationPress) The Karnataka BJP criticized the Congress-led Siddaramaiah administration's "halal" budget and religion-based reservation, labeling it as the epitome of appeasement politics.

On social media, Amit Malviya, who heads the BJP's National Information and Technology Department and co-manages West Bengal, remarked, "The Congress is determined to undermine the rights of SCs, STs, and OBCs as established in Baba Saheb Ambedkar's Constitution. No reservation should be allocated based on religion. India will not permit Congress to succeed with their devious plans."

Malviya referenced a statement made on December 9, 2006, by then-Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who stated, "We need to create innovative strategies to ensure minorities, especially the Muslim minority, can adequately partake in developmental benefits. They should have priority access to resources."

He noted that Singh reaffirmed this position during the lead-up to the Lok Sabha elections on April 14, 2009, emphasizing that minorities, particularly impoverished Muslims, deserve priority concerning national resources.

Malviya highlighted that Manmohan Singh maintained his previous assertion that Muslims should have the first claim to resources.

During the state budget presentation, CM Siddaramaiah revealed that 4 percent of public works contracts will be reserved for Muslims under CATEGORY-II B, as noted by Malviya.

Reservation will be granted in the procurement of goods and services across various government sectors, corporations, and institutions for suppliers belonging to SC, ST, Category-I, Category-II A, and Category-II B, up to Rs 1 crore. Category-II B pertains to Muslims.

BJP Karnataka stated on social media platform X, "Scam CM @ Siddaramaiah in Karnataka presents a Halal Budget - appeasement at its peak."

The BJP noted, "Reservation for Muslims in government contracts; Rs 50,000 assistance for Muslim simple marriages; Rs 150 crore for infrastructure development of Waqf properties and graveyards; Rs 50 lakh for Muslim cultural programs; New ITI college to be established in Muslim-majority areas; 50 percent fee concession for Muslim students under KEA; Residential PU college for Muslim girls in Ullal town; Increased national and foreign scholarships for Muslim students; Expansion of Bengaluru’s Haj Bhavan with additional facilities and self-defense training for Muslim girl students were all announced in the budget."

The party emphasized, "What about SCs, STs, and OBCs? Absolutely nothing!"

Malviya concluded, "CM Siddaramaiah's dubious budget has introduced religion-based reservations for Muslims, which contradicts Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's principles! The unconstitutional budget presented by Siddaramaiah has once again revealed how much the Congress party disdains Ambedkar."
