Lucknow, March 17 (NationPress) With the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) revealing the names of district presidents in Uttar Pradesh, the competition for the state party president position has escalated.

The current Uttar Pradesh BJP President, Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary, is likely to be replaced as the process for selecting a new state president is anticipated to commence shortly, according to party insiders.

On Sunday, the BJP appointed district presidents for 70 out of the 98 organizational districts. A significant change was made as the party focused on social representation. Among the newly appointed district presidents, five are women and 25 are from Other Backward Classes (OBC).

The caste distribution includes 19 Brahmins, 10 Thakurs, three Kayasthas, two Bhumihars, four Vaishyas, and one Punjabi.

Of the 25 OBC appointees, five are Kurmis, four Backward Vaishyas, two each from the Maurya and Lodh communities, and one each from the Yadav, Kashyap, Kushwaha, Pal, Rajbhar, Rastogi, Saini, and P. Vaishya groups.

Six district presidents are from Scheduled Castes (SC), including three from the Pasi community and one each from the Dhobi, Katheria, and Kori communities.

This series of appointments is part of the BJP's ongoing organizational elections, which commenced in November. The process began with elections for 1,62,459 booth committees in December, followed by elections for 1,918 mandals across the state. District-level nominations occurred in January, culminating in the current announcements after extensive multi-level reviews.

Delays in elections for 11 districts, due to by-elections, are expected to wrap up later this month, finalizing the remaining 28 district presidents.

Interestingly, the BJP did not announce any appointments from Lucknow this time. The names were disclosed at district headquarters following thorough local-level preparations.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, and State President Bhupendra Chaudhary congratulated the newly appointed district presidents.

CM Yogi stated, “Heartfelt congratulations to all the newly appointed district and metropolitan presidents of the BJP in Uttar Pradesh! I have complete confidence that each of you will further strengthen the organization by adhering to the policies and principles of the BJP and will contribute to advancing the Prime Minister's campaign for good governance in Uttar Pradesh. Wishing everyone a successful tenure!”
