New Delhi, Aug 17 (NationPress) The BJP on Sunday vehemently condemned senior Congress leader B.K. Hariprasad for likening the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to the Taliban. The party accused Congress of consistently targeting nationalist organizations while showing support for outlawed radical groups like the Popular Front of India (PFI) and the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI).
Hariprasad, a former Rajya Sabha member, ignited controversy with his 'Indian Taliban' comment directed at the RSS, claiming that it disrupts peace in the nation.
In a sharp retort, Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa remarked, 'This indicates a profoundly degraded mindset. It is evident he holds a certain fondness for the Taliban. His hatred for BJP and RSS pales in comparison to their admiration for the Taliban and associated terrorists.'
'Whenever there is a crackdown on terrorists, Congress feels the pain. This stems from their inclination towards vote bank politics. They seek the votes of specific communities, which leads them to praise terrorists like Hamas, Taliban, ISIS, and others,' he continued.
BJP National Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla also criticized Congress, connecting Hariprasad's comments to a larger trend within the party regarding national issues.
'B.K. Hariprasad, a close associate of the Gandhi family, has claimed that Pakistan has done no wrong and that they are friends, asserting that the BJP is the true enemy. Congress perceives PFI, SIMI, and Pakistan as their allies, while viewing the Indian Army as a 'tamasha,' and equating nationalist institutions with the Taliban,' Poonawalla stated.
He further articulated, 'This showcases their mindset: disrespecting the army, belittling constitutional institutions, and undermining social organizations and Sanatan Dharma has become synonymous with Congress. Their persistent opposition to nationalists and the criticisms leveled against them have drawn rebukes from the courts multiple times.'
Hariprasad's remarks followed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commendation of the RSS during his Independence Day speech from the Red Fort.
'Today, I wish to express with great pride that an organization was founded 100 years ago — the RSS. Its century of national service is a proud and glorious chapter,' stated PM Modi.
