Hyderabad, April 14 (NationPress) The Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, has accused the BJP of trying to alter the Constitution of India and erode the foundation of democratic principles.
Speaking at an event commemorating the 135th birth anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar in Hyderabad, he asserted that the BJP's actions are jeopardizing the fundamental rights of citizens and turning a blind eye to democracy. He urged the community to come together to protect the Constitution.
“We must unite, raise our fists in solidarity, and chant Jai Bhim to defend the Indian Constitution,” Vikramarka declared.
While paying homage to the architect of the Indian Constitution, he remarked on the fortune of having Dr. Ambedkar born in India, praising him as a man of exceptional intellect and vast knowledge.
Vikramarka noted that Ambedkar was a significant visionary who established the framework for democracy through the Constitution, thus making India the largest democracy in the world.
“Through the Constitution, he guaranteed equal rights for all citizens. He was a pioneer in advocating for women's empowerment and rights through legal frameworks,” the Deputy CM emphasized.
He highlighted that Ambedkar was among the first to confront gender discrimination and the challenges faced by women, who represent half of the nation's populace.
As the inaugural Law Minister of independent India, he introduced the Hindu Code Bill in Parliament to protect women's rights, even resigning from his ministerial role to champion its enactment, Vikramarka stated.
The Deputy Chief Minister remarked that Ambedkar transcended caste and religious divisions, tirelessly advocating for the welfare of women. He significantly contributed to the introduction of maternity leave policies and labor laws, fighting successfully to reduce labor hours from 12 to 8.
“By laying the groundwork for democracy, he granted every citizen the 'Right to Vote', empowering people to become their own rulers. Ambedkar created an incredible opportunity for individuals to influence the policies affecting their lives through their chosen representatives,” Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka stated.
He asserted that the “Indiramma Government” in Telangana aligns with Babasaheb's principles and the path he paved. “Every decision we make, every law we enact, and every governance step reflects Dr. Ambedkar's social and economic philosophy,” he reiterated, promising to continue this trajectory.
He affirmed that the government is focused on ensuring equitable distribution of resources and political rights among all citizens based on demographic representation.
For the first time in India’s history, the Telangana government has initiated a caste census, strictly adhering to constitutional values. “We are dedicated to preserving the Constitution and human rights. Our government faithfully implements the Indian Constitution in both spirit and letter,” he added.
During the ceremony at the 125-foot statue of Ambedkar near the state Secretariat, the Deputy Chief Minister, alongside ministers and state Congress president Mahesh Kumar Goud, paid their respects and unveiled a special brochure aimed at promoting Ambedkar’s ideals.
