BJP's Rohan Gupta Calls for Congress to Reflect on Its Actions Amidst New INDIA Bloc Tensions

New Delhi, Dec 26 (NationPress) In a recent development, the AAP has cautioned the Congress about potential expulsion from the INDIA bloc unless action is taken against senior leader Ajay Maken for his comments regarding former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. BJP leader Rohan Gupta on Thursday criticized the Congress for its constant tendency to blame EVMs (Electronic Voting Machines) for its electoral setbacks, urging the party to engage in self-reflection instead.
In an interview with IANS, Gupta condemned Congress for its inability to grasp the pulse of the nation.
“The entire country understands the reason behind Congress's defeat, except for them. Now, leaders of the INDIA bloc have made statements against their own member. I want to emphasize that this is the truth,” Gupta stated, adding that Congress’s routine blaming of EVMs for its losses illustrates its disconnect from the reality of public sentiment.
“Congress has completely lost the faith of the people. Instead of taking responsibility, they point fingers at EVMs,” he continued.
Gupta also highlighted that Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had advised against blaming EVMs, suggesting that Congress should recognize why the public has grown disenchanted with them.
“It would be more productive if they accepted their defeat and worked on their shortcomings if they genuinely wish to succeed in future elections. Abdullah also urged Congress to refrain from commenting on the functionality of EVMs,” he remarked.
Gupta further accused both AAP and Congress of misleading voters during the Lok Sabha elections under the pretense of the INDIA bloc.
“The citizens of Delhi have been deceived in the name of the INDIA bloc. They collaborated during the Lok Sabha elections, yet are now exposing each other as corrupt. I question their ideology,” he stated.
He confidently asserted that the people of Delhi would ensure defeat for both parties in the upcoming Assembly elections.
“Delhi is the heart of the nation, and its citizens will respond appropriately by supporting us in the Assembly elections,” he proclaimed.
Meanwhile, AAP’s dissatisfaction with Congress arises from various recent incidents. A complaint lodged by the Youth Congress accused Kejriwal of misleading the public with fictitious welfare promises like the Mahila Samman Yojana and Sanjeevani Yojana, which government departments confirmed to be non-existent.
Moreover, Congress leader Ajay Maken’s comments about the party’s decline in Delhi—attributing it to the 2013 decision to support AAP—did not sit well with AAP leaders. Maken also reportedly branded Kejriwal as “anti-national.”
During a tense press conference, AAP MP Sanjay Singh demanded immediate action from Congress, warning that if Maken is not addressed within 24 hours, AAP would consult the INDIA bloc regarding Congress's potential removal. “Ajay Maken is following the BJP’s script,” Singh asserted, accompanied by Delhi Chief Minister Atishi.
Gupta also commented on the return of Salman Rushdie’s banned book The Satanic Verses, affirming that there should be no restrictions on the truth.
“Truth should be revealed without any appeasement. The public should have the power to determine what is right and wrong,” Gupta concluded.
