Srinagar, Aug 18 (NationPress) A Bollywood film crew working in Ladakh recently suffered from a case of food poisoning, resulting in over 100 members being hospitalized in Leh, officials reported on Monday.

"More than 100 workers from the Bollywood film crew were admitted to a hospital in Leh following a suspected case of food poisoning late Sunday night," officials confirmed.

The film crew was actively engaged in the production of an upcoming movie when numerous members began to experience severe symptoms, including abdominal pain, vomiting, and headaches.

They were swiftly taken to the Sajal Narbu Memorial (SNM) Hospital in Leh, where medical professionals diagnosed the situation as a case of mass food poisoning.

An official mentioned that nearly 600 individuals had meals at the filming location prior to the incident.

"Food samples have been collected for thorough analysis to determine the cause," the official noted. Hospital authorities reported that the issue was managed effectively with the immediate mobilization of staff from various departments.

"We handled the influx of patients efficiently. The police also intervened to manage the crowded emergency room and to prevent chaos," a senior doctor stated.

Doctors confirmed that all patients are currently in stable condition, and the majority have been discharged after receiving appropriate care.

Authorities are now awaiting laboratory results of the food samples to establish accountability, as this incident raises concerns regarding food safety standards at large-scale filming locations in sensitive areas like Leh.

As the inquiry proceeds, more information regarding the type of food and water consumed by the crew members is anticipated. It remains unclear who the film's producer and director are, or if any prominent Bollywood stars were among those affected.

The Ladakh region, often referred to as the moonland due to its barren, rugged mountains and challenging terrain, has previously hosted numerous blockbuster films, including '3 Idiots' and 'Haqeeqat'.

'Haqeeqat' was produced to portray the India-China conflict of 1962 and became a significant success. Several other notable films have utilized Ladakh’s breathtaking landscapes for various scenes, such as 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan', 'Dil Se', 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag', and 'Lakshya'.

The region features areas like Nubra, Chanthang, and Batalik, which were previously inaccessible to tourists but are now open for visitors.
