Bommai Praises Modi Govt's Crisis Management Amid Global Tensions
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Gadag (Karnataka), March 14 (NationPress) Former Chief Minister of Karnataka and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Basavaraj Bommai stated on Saturday that the central government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, has adeptly managed the global crisis stemming from the conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran. This has ensured a consistent supply of both petrol and diesel across the nation.
He accused the Congress party of engaging in political theatrics driven by frustration.
During a press conference in Gadag, Bommai reassured that there were no issues regarding the availability of domestic LPG cylinders, as clarified by K.H. Muniyappa, the Karnataka State Food and Civil Supplies Minister.
He highlighted that only a minor challenge exists with commercial cylinders and urged the public to remain calm.
Bommai remarked that multiple ships loaded with LPG are en route to India and emphasized the need for the Karnataka government to manage proper distribution and curb black market activities.
"This issue will be resolved within the next eight days," he asserted.
He noted India's reliance on Gulf nations for LPG imports, especially given the current conflict situation.
Bommai credited Prime Minister Modi's diplomatic efforts for Iran's permission to facilitate the transportation of petroleum and diesel.
"Gas shipments are also underway," he added.
Recalling historical context, Bommai urged the Congress to reflect on the Iraq war era when Saddam Hussein was in power. He pointed out that during that period, the Congress-led UPA government had imposed restrictions, resulting in long queues at petrol stations.
"This time, despite the ongoing crisis for about 15 days, there have been no such issues in India due to Prime Minister Modi's governance," he stated.
He also mentioned that domestic gas production has been ramped up by approximately 25 percent, ensuring sufficient petrol and diesel supply.
According to him, the Union government has effectively navigated the global crisis, maintaining stability apart from minor issues concerning commercial LPG cylinders.
Bommai accused the Congress party of politicizing the situation, asserting that the party is attempting to sow discord at a time when unity is crucial during a crisis.
On the internal dynamics within the Karnataka Congress, he remarked that senior leaders, such as G.S. Patil from Gadag, have been discussing state Cabinet expansion, indicating possible growing rifts within the party.
He also claimed that various Congress leaders expressed dissatisfaction over the State budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, feeling they received minimal benefits.
Bommai criticized Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for frequently laying blame on the central government to distract from his own shortcomings.
"The Congress keeps reiterating the same claims to lend them credibility. Now they are incorporating the LPG matter into their accusations as well," he concluded.
