New Delhi, March 24 (NationPress) In an extraordinary act of bravery and quick thinking, a 26-year-old woman from Ambedkar Nagar in South Delhi successfully thwarted mobile snatchers, demonstrating a powerful example of collaboration between the public and police.
The incident occurred on March 19 at approximately 3 p.m. while Tanishka was heading to Kalkaji Mandir along BRT Road. During this brazen daylight robbery, two young men on a scooter snatched her mobile phone and attempted to escape.
As per the South District Police, Tanishka reacted promptly, refusing to surrender her phone. She hopped onto an e-rickshaw and enlisted the help of bystanders. Thanks to their collective efforts, the snatchers were intercepted, and Tanishka successfully retrieved her phone. She bravely detained the culprits until the police arrived.
The Delhi Police quickly took the suspects into custody, filed a case, and presented them in court, where they were subsequently remanded to judicial custody.
To honor her courageous actions, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for South District acknowledged Tanishka during a special ceremony on March 23, which was attended by senior police officials. The police praised her for her quick decision-making, bravery, and proactive involvement in aiding law enforcement.
Officials remarked that this recognition underscores the South District's commitment to fostering citizen involvement and strengthening the bond between the community and police in the fight against crime. Tanishka’s fearless reaction serves as an inspiration, particularly for young women, to take a stand against criminal acts.
Meanwhile, there has been a troubling increase in snatching incidents in the national capital.
In another case on March 23, a brother-sister duo, linked to 31 theft and snatching cases, was apprehended in Maurya Enclave, northwest Delhi. The individuals, identified as Maninder Kaur alias Simran (22) and Amanpreet Singh (24), both residents of Chander Vihar, have extensive criminal histories, with Maninder associated with eight cases and Amanpreet with 23.
