Ranchi, March 28 (NationPress) Two brothers hailing from Ranchi tragically drowned at Remix Falls, located in the Maranghada police station region of Khunti district, Jharkhand, on Friday, as per official reports.

The victims have been named as Shubham Kumar Yadav and Raj Kumar Yadav, both of whom resided in Kokar, Ranchi.

As reported, a group of eight young men from Ranchi made their way to the Remix Falls in a vehicle for a recreational outing. At approximately 12 noon on Friday, while enjoying a swim near the waterfall—where the Kanchi River cascades over rocks—Shubham and Raj were suddenly swept away by the powerful current and dragged into the deeper waters.

Upon hearing their desperate cries for assistance, their friends raised the alarm, prompting local villagers to initiate a rescue effort.

Raj Kumar Yadav was the first to be rescued and was immediately taken to the trauma center in Bundu, but physicians pronounced him dead upon arrival.

The body of Shubham Yadav was found trapped between rocks, and it took villagers over three hours to recover it.

Upon receiving the devastating news, the grieving family members hurried to the scene, turning their home into a place of mourning.

Following the event, Shankar Vidyarthi, the in-charge of Maranghada police station, arrived at the location along with a police team. Authorities have sent both bodies for autopsy.

This unfortunate event unfolds just four days after a similar drowning incident at Remta Dam in Khunti, where Sachin Dang, a visitor from Ranchi’s Alkapuri locality, also drowned while swimming.

Two months prior, a picnic outing ended in tragedy when three youths—Ankur Kumar, Ashish Kumar, and Deepak Giri—drowned at Tiru Falls in Ranchi.

The regions surrounding Ranchi feature numerous dams and waterfalls that attract visitors; however, most locations are devoid of adequate safety measures. In spite of frequent drowning incidents, minimal efforts have been made to establish warning signs, employ lifeguards, or implement safety protocols to avert further calamities.
