Hyderabad, June 2 (NationPress) The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has declared that it will not form any alliances with other parties and will independently contest the upcoming elections, as stated by senior leader and MLA T. Harish Rao on Monday.
He expressed strong belief that the BRS will reclaim power in Telangana by securing 100 seats.
During his address at the Telangana Formation Day event held at the BRS headquarters, Telangana Bhavan, Harish Rao remarked: "There are rumors suggesting that the BRS will collaborate with the BJP. I assure you, the BRS will not ally with any party; it will achieve victory independently."
His statement appears to be a response to recent comments made by BRS MLA K. Kavitha, who suggested that some factions within the BRS were attempting to forge an alliance with the BJP.
Kavitha, the daughter of BRS president and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), recently alleged that a proposal for merging the BRS with the BJP was presented while she was incarcerated in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case, a proposal she vehemently opposed.
Neither KCR, Kavitha's brother and BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), nor her cousin Harish Rao have commented on these serious allegations, which surfaced shortly after a confidential letter to KCR was leaked.
Kavitha has made it clear that she intends to operate solely under KCR's leadership.
Harish Rao reiterated that KCR has stated that whenever elections occur, the BRS is certain to secure 100 seats.
The former Irrigation Minister criticized BJP leaders for their silence regarding the injustices faced by Telangana, questioning their inaction on the Godavari-Banakacherla link project initiated by Andhra Pradesh.
He urged BJP MPs to demonstrate integrity by opposing the project and announced that the BRS will approach the Supreme Court to halt the project to safeguard the state’s interests, asserting that only the BRS can truly protect Telangana.
Harish Rao cautioned officers who are harassing BRS members that their names would be recorded in the 'Red Book' and they would face consequences once the BRS regains power.
He also criticized the Congress government for bringing disgrace to Telangana through its mismanagement of the Miss World beauty pageant. Referring to allegations of inappropriate conduct during the event by Miss England, he demanded the release of the CCTV footage.
Harish Rao asserted that while KCR is number one in development, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is the top liar. He challenged the Chief Minister's claim that women received Rs 21,000 crore in interest-free loans, stating that if the Chief Minister could prove it, he would resign.
