Hyderabad, April 7 (NationPress) The police have served notices to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader Manne Krishank for purportedly sharing Artificial Intelligence (AI) generated videos on social media regarding the conflict over 400 acres of land in Kancha Gachibowli near Hyderabad Central University.

Officials from the Gachibowli Police Station delivered notices to Krishank on Monday, instructing him to report for questioning on April 9, 10, and 11.

Krishank, along with BRS IT cell in-charges Konatham Dileep and others, has been charged with utilizing AI technology to produce and disseminate videos on social media.

The police contend that the video in question has the potential to mislead the public or incite unrest.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) including 353 (1) (b), 353 (1) (c), 352 (2), 192, 196 (1), and 61 (1) (a).

However, Krishank asserts that all images and videos shared on the BRS’ social media regarding the University of Hyderabad campaign were provided by students or journalists.

“The government is in damage control mode and is filing police cases. I have received notices for 4 FIRs. I will comply with the investigation by appearing on April 9 and April 10 at the Gachibowli Police Station,” Krishank stated on X.

“Will anyone file a case against CM Revanth for making false claims that there are no deer in the University of Hyderabad?” he questioned.

The Telangana government has expressed serious concerns regarding the fabrication of videos and photos related to the Kancha Gachibowli lands. It plans to request a court order to investigate the use of AI in generating fake content.

Officials informed Chief Minister Reddy during a review meeting that certain individuals had created and widely shared fake videos and images using AI on social media.

Senior police officials explained to CM Reddy that some vested interests had made deceptive videos and AI-generated images depicting crying peacocks and injured deer fleeing after being struck by bulldozers.

Notably, several prominent figures, including Union Minister Kishan Reddy, former Minister Jagadish Reddy, social media influencer Dhruv Rathi, and film stars John Abraham, Dia Mirza, and Raveena Tandon, shared the misleading posts, assuming them to be genuine.

Dia Mirza, in a post on X, denied having used any AI-generated images or videos to support the students' protest aimed at preserving biodiversity on the 400 acres of land set for auction by the government.

“This is completely false. I have not posted any AI-generated images or videos. The media and the Telangana government should verify their facts before making such allegations,” she stated.
