A statement from the fire and emergency services department indicated that, “A fire was reported at Madar, Bandipora, at approximately 2:34 a.m. today. Upon receiving the alert, fire and emergency teams from the District Fire Headquarters Bandipora were dispatched to the scene. Given the severity of the flames, additional reinforcements were quickly mobilized.”

“Upon arrival, it was observed that the entire wooden barrack, covered with GCI sheets, was completely engulfed in flames. The deceased has been identified as Ramesh Kumar, a washerman with the 62 Battalion BSF. His body has been handed over to the higher authorities of 62 BN BSF for further legal procedures.

“The operation was led by LFM Ghulam Nabi under the direct oversight of Assistant Director Mohammad Arif Mir, with effective coordination facilitated by Mobilising Officer Aijaz Ahmad Shah. The cause of the fire remains under investigation,” the statement added.
