BTR Administration Celebrates Fourth Anniversary in Assam

Guwahati, Dec 12 (NationPress) The Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) government, under the guidance of Chief Executive Member (CEM) Pramod Boro, is gearing up to celebrate a remarkable achievement, its fourth anniversary, with a two-day event scheduled for December 14th and 15th, 2024, centered around the theme ‘Regaining Sustainable Peace, Harmony, and Integrity’, as stated by officials on Thursday.

The BTR is an autonomous region within Assam, located at the foothills of Arunachal Pradesh and Bhutan, comprising five districts on the northern bank of the Brahmaputra River. It operates under the Bodoland Territorial Council, an elected council formed as part of a peace agreement established in February 2003. An additional agreement reached in January 2020 expanded its powers.

The area is predominantly populated by the Bodo people and other Indigenous groups of Assam, covering over 9,000 square kilometers.

The upcoming festivities will not only celebrate the region's achievements under the current administration but will also aim to outline a vision for a more promising future for the residents of BTR.

According to an official announcement, on December 14th, government offices, educational institutions, and Block Development Offices throughout the region will engage in a variety of activities aimed at enhancing community involvement and fostering shared accountability.

The day will commence with the ‘My Bodoland, Clean Bodoland’ initiative, which includes a Safai Abhiyan (Cleanliness Drive) across the area. Local leaders, including EMs, MCLAs, TCLLC, and VCDC members, alongside government officials, community leaders, and other stakeholders, will take part in this significant event.

A seminar themed ‘My Bodoland, Peaceful Bodoland’ will feature keynote presentations from distinguished citizens and experts. These discussions will offer insights into sustainable peace, illustrating the BTR Government's vision of a “Peaceful, Smart, and Green Bodoland”.

The grand event on December 15th will be held at the Bhergaon Mini Stadium in Udalguri, BTR. This occasion will also acknowledge partner agencies for their remarkable contributions to the development of BTR.

This two-day celebration not only provides a moment to reflect on the advancements made in the past four years but also serves as a reaffirmation of BTR’s dedication to fostering peace, unity, and sustainable progress in the region.
