Key Takeaways
Guwahati, Sep 12 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, unveiled the BJP's election manifesto for the forthcoming Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Council elections on Friday, emphasizing a vision of development and reaffirming his party's dedication to the complete execution of the Bodo Peace Accord.
During the manifesto launch at Vajpayee Bhawan in Guwahati, CM Sarma highlighted that the BJP's agenda would focus on peace, infrastructure development, and the empowerment of women within the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) territory.
"Our manifesto guarantees 100% implementation of the Bodo Peace Accord. We aim to enhance infrastructure in BTC, set up new higher education institutions, and introduce various initiatives to uplift our mothers and sisters," the Chief Minister stated to the media.
In a pointed remark directed at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, CM Sarma asserted that attempting to defame mothers for political gain would not prosper.
"The mother of someone, the mother of the Prime Minister, is our mother. A mother holds significance in every context. Those who endeavor to belittle a mother will never find success in our nation," he remarked.
The Chief Minister also addressed the ongoing Special Investigation Team (SIT) inquiry into alleged links between Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi and Pakistan, labeling the discoveries as explosive.
He noted that the report spans 96 pages and includes critical documents related to national sovereignty.
"Once discussed in the Cabinet, we will make the SIT report public and determine the subsequent actions. Rest assured, this is indeed a very explosive report," CM Sarma assured.
He further accused a cartel of attempting to defame and hinder India's progress.
"This cartel, which includes a Pakistani national and the British spouse of the Honourable MP, has played a significant role. Once the BTC elections conclude, the Cabinet will address the SIT report and make further decisions. For now, our focus is on ensuring peaceful BTC elections," the CM added.
The Bodoland elections are regarded as a pivotal political event ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections, with the BJP aiming to solidify its influence in the area.
