Vadodara, Jan 30 (NationPress) In a tragic incident, two individuals lost their lives and over 10 others sustained severe injuries when a private bus crashed into a stationary truck on National Highway-48 near Karjan in Gujarat's Vadodara district early Friday morning, according to police reports.

The collision transpired close to the Dhavat Chokdi bridge as the bus was en route from Aurangabad to Ahmedabad and collided with a truck parked alongside the highway.

Authorities indicated that the force of the impact was tremendous, severely damaging the front of the bus and trapping numerous passengers inside.

At least two passengers were pronounced dead at the scene, while more than 25 others were reported to be trapped in the wreckage.

Emergency teams from the Karjan fire station were dispatched promptly to the location, initiating a rescue operation. Firefighters utilized cutting equipment to open the mangled bus and free those stuck within.

The rescue efforts stretched on for about one and a half hours, during which the injured and deceased were extracted using specialized tools and makeshift arrangements, given the vehicle's extensive damage.

Units from the Karjan police, highway patrol, and 108 emergency ambulance services arrived shortly after the incident.

More than 10 injured individuals were transported to nearby medical facilities, with several reported to be in critical condition.

Authorities mentioned that the bodies of the deceased were sent for autopsy.

A police spokesperson stated that an exhaustive investigation has been launched to uncover the exact circumstances surrounding the accident. “Initial reports indicate the bus struck a stationary truck on the highway. We are assessing whether negligence, visibility issues, or other factors played a role in the incident,” the spokesperson elaborated.

The accident resulted in temporary traffic delays on the highway, which were subsequently resolved, allowing normal traffic flow to resume.

In an unrelated event in Rajkot district, two individuals perished in a car crash on the Gondal-Atkot highway.

According to police, the vehicle lost control between the villages of Mota Mandava and Mota Dadva, plunging off a bridge and overturning beneath it.

The car ignited swiftly, trapping the occupants inside. Firefighters from Gondal, alongside police, arrived at the scene and managed to extinguish the flames after significant effort.

Following the operation, severely charred remains of two individuals were retrieved from the vehicle.

Authorities stated that the intensity of the fire made immediate identification impossible. An initial inquiry is underway, with efforts to identify the deceased using the vehicle’s registration and engine numbers.
