New Delhi, Feb 14 (NationPress) The Union Cabinet has sanctioned projects totaling Rs 1,60,504 crore during its concluding assembly in the South Block prior to the resolution for relocating its operations to the Seva Teerth complex, as stated by Union Railways and Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday.

On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced the new Seva Teerth complex, which will accommodate the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS), and the Cabinet Secretariat.

During the final meeting in South Block, the Cabinet authorized significant initiatives encompassing railways, national highways, metro expansion, urban reforms, and startup financing.

In a transformative approach to urban development, the government has endorsed the initiation of the Urban Challenge Fund (UCF) with central backing of Rs 1 lakh crore. This assistance will cover 25% of project expenses, provided that at least 50% of the project cost is secured from the market.

The Cabinet endorsed three multi-tracking initiatives, affecting 12 districts across Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra, and Karnataka, with a cumulative cost of Rs 18,509 crore. This will extend the current network of Indian Railways by approximately 389 km.

In a significant boost to India’s rapidly evolving startup ecosystem, the Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ratified the establishment of the Startup India Fund of Funds 2.0 with a total corpus of Rs 10,000 crore. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the rehabilitation and enhancement of the Ghoti–Trimbak (Mokhada)–Jawhar–Manor–Palghar segment of NH-160A in Maharashtra, covering a total distance of 154.635 km with an outlay of Rs 3,320.38 crore.

The Cabinet also sanctioned the widening of National Highway-167 from Gudebellur to Mahabubnagar on the Hyderabad-Panaji Economic Corridor to 4 lanes in Telangana with an outlay of Rs 3,175.08 crore. This initiative will enhance freight movement efficiency, thereby reducing logistics costs and fostering socio-economic development in the region.

To boost road connectivity in Gujarat, the government on Saturday approved the upgrade of two sections of National Highway-56 to 4 lanes with an outlay of Rs 4,583.64 crore.
