The Union Cabinet, meeting under Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, 19 August 2026, approved the four-laning of the 82.578 km Muzaffarpur–Sitamarhi–Sonbarsa section of NH-22 — a road that runs from Bihar's economic heartland straight to the India-Nepal border. Why this stretch of NH-22 matters

Connecting NH-22 to the East-West Corridor
