Cabinet Expansion of Hemant Soren Government Scheduled for Tomorrow

Ranchi, Dec 4 (NationPress) The eagerly awaited cabinet expansion of Jharkhand's Hemant Soren-led government is scheduled for Thursday. The swearing-in ceremony will take place at Ashok Udyan in Raj Bhavan at 12 noon, according to an announcement from the Governor's office.

During the event, Protem Speaker Stephen Marandi will also take the oath.

Although the list of MLAs being appointed as ministers has not been made public, insiders suggest a coalition arrangement is in place. This involves six ministers from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), four from the Congress, and one from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).

From the RJD allocation, Godda MLA Sanjay Yadav is anticipated to secure a ministerial position. Initial discussions favored Deoghar MLA Suresh Paswan, but he is now likely to assume the role of the RJD legislature party leader.

Among the Congress MLAs, former Minister Rameshwar Oraon is likely to take on the role of legislature party leader, which could open the door for Kolebira MLA Naman Vixal Kongadi or Khijri MLA Rajesh Kachhap to join the cabinet.

Mahagama MLA Deepika Pandey Singh seems to be leading among the five female MLAs of the Congress, ensuring representation for women.

Other Congress contenders include Jamtara MLA Irfan Ansari, Poraiyahat MLA Pradeep Yadav, Bermo MLA Jaimangal Singh, and Chhatarpur MLA Radhakrishna Kishore.

From the JMM, strong candidates include Chaibasa MLA Deepak Birua, Ghatsila MLA Ramdas Soren, Madhupur MLA Hafizul Hasan, Bhawanathpur MLA Anant Pratap Deo, Jama MLA Louis Marandi, and Tundi MLA Mathura Mahato. Ichagarh MLA Sabita Mahato and Rajmahal MLA M.T. Raja are also in the mix.

Protem Speaker Marandi might be promoted to Speaker, which could pave the way for former Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato to rejoin the cabinet.

Supriyo Bhattacharya, General Secretary of the JMM, stated on Wednesday that the cabinet will demonstrate a mix of experience and youth, with representation spanning all five regions and various social groups.

He expressed optimism that the new cabinet, under the stewardship of Hemant Soren, will successfully deliver on the commitments made during the elections and function cohesively over the next five years.

On November 28, Hemant Soren, leader of the JMM-Congress-RJD-CPI-ML alliance, took the oath as Chief Minister of Jharkhand for the fourth time. The alliance achieved a significant two-thirds majority, winning 56 out of 81 seats in the elections conducted on November 13 and November 20.
