Bhopal, April 10 (NationPress) Former Madhya Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Hari Ballabh Joshi has filed a complaint against a male caretaker employed through a private agency, alleging that the caretaker ‘assaulted’ him by grabbing his throat.
In his report lodged at the Habiganj police station in Bhopal, 99-year-old retired IPS officer Joshi stated that due to his advanced age, he had engaged a caretaker named Rafiq to assist him at his residence in Arera Colony.
“On Wednesday, while I was in my drawing room reading a newspaper, Rafiq unexpectedly came up to me, grabbed my throat, and demanded I hand over all my money while threatening to kill me,” Joshi’s complaint reads.
He asserted that Rafiq only released his grip after a female servant, Gita, who prepares meals for him, witnessed the incident and screamed.
“Upon seeing Gita, Rafiq let go of my throat and apologized for his actions,” Joshi recounted to the police.
Later, around 5 PM, Gita's husband, Mahendra, who looks after him at night, entered the drawing room.
“At that point, I noticed that one of the two Rs 500 notes (totaling Rs 1,000) I had placed in the drawing room was missing,” he reported.
Joshi elaborated that Rafiq was aware of the money and admitted to taking one Rs 500 note, promising to return it in a few days.
Mahendra instructed Rafiq to report the incident to the agency (Rachna agency) via phone.
“Subsequently, I discovered that numerous valuables, including precious metal idols of Lord Ganesha, were missing from my home. I suspect Rafiq is responsible for their theft,” Joshi stated.
The complaint further indicates that Rafiq is a habitual drinker, which the agency owner is well aware of, yet no decisive action has been taken against him.
Joshi expressed that this incident has left him feeling frightened and has requested increased security at his home.
“I urge the police to conduct regular inspections at my residence to ensure my safety. I trust that police action will be taken regarding this matter,” he added.
In 2022, Joshi had also filed an FIR against Raghvendra Singh Tomar, owner of Faith Cricket Club Bhopal, accusing him of forging documents and illegally encroaching on his land.
