New Delhi, Aug 5 (NationPress) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has captured an Upper Division Clerk (UDC) from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Nazafgarh Zone, for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a complainant in exchange for facilitating gratuity payments.
The individual involved has been named as Dal Chand, serving as UDC in MCD’s Nazafgarh Zone office located in New Delhi.
According to a revelation by the CBI, the agency initiated a case against Dal Chand on August 4, 2025, based on claims that he demanded 10 percent of a gratuity sum - Rs 8,38,565 - as illegal remuneration from the complainant.
The bribe was reportedly solicited to ensure the release of this specific amount. The accused purportedly threatened that the remaining funds would remain withheld unless the bribe was settled.
After negotiations, Dal Chand allegedly consented to accept Rs 50,000 as a bribe to both release the overdue gratuity and to process the remaining balance.
Acting promptly, the CBI executed a sting operation and apprehended Dal Chand red-handed while he was receiving the bribe from the complainant on August 4.
He was immediately taken into custody, and further investigations are ongoing.
The CBI, in its announcement, reiterated its commitment to dismantling corruption and enforcing stringent measures against corrupt public officials.
The agency has also invited citizens to report any instances of bribery or misuse of official powers. Reports can be made at the CBI Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) office in Delhi, situated on the 1st Floor, CBI Building, CGO Complex, Lodhi Road. Citizens may also call 011-24367887 or mobile number 9650394847 to file complaints or provide pertinent information, as stated in the agency’s press release.
This recent operation is part of a broader CBI initiative aimed at combating systemic corruption within public sectors and ensuring greater transparency in government operations.
