Srinagar, April 26 (NationPress) The Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked gunfire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir this Saturday, prompting an effective response from the Indian Army.

During the night of April 25-26, several posts of the Pakistan Army conducted unprovoked small arms fire across the LoC in Kashmir.

The Defence Ministry spokesman confirmed, “Our troops responded appropriately to the ceasefire violations with small arms. No casualties have been reported.”

On April 24, the Pakistan Army also engaged in small arms fire at various locations along the LoC, which was met with effective retaliation.

Heightened tensions arose between the two nations after terrorists affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) killed 26 innocent individuals, including 25 tourists and a local, on April 22 in the Baisaran meadow of Pahalgam.

The nation expressed outrage over the despicable act, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi stating that the terrorists, their handlers, and supporters would be pursued relentlessly.

J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha held a security review meeting with Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi in Srinagar on Friday, instructing the Army to utilize any necessary force to apprehend the attackers responsible for the Pahalgam incident.

Three terrorists associated with the LeT were targeted, with their residences demolished in Shopian, Pulwama, and Kulgam districts.

On Friday, the homes of two terrorists, Adil Hussain Thoker and Asif Sheikh, were destroyed in the Tral and Bijbehara regions. These individuals are believed to be part of the LeT group involved in the Pahalgam attacks.

Earlier, on April 7, the Pakistani Army breached the ceasefire in the LoC within Poonch district, to which the Indian Army responded decisively, officials noted.

On April 1, the Pakistani Army violated the ceasefire again, resorting to unprovoked firing following a mine explosion along the LoC in the Poonch district, with Indian troops responding in a “controlled and calibrated manner”.
