New Delhi, Nov 11 (NationPress) The government announced on Tuesday that Quality Control Orders (QCOs) are being enforced to ensure that consumers have access to high-quality products and to foster a culture of excellence in manufacturing.
Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal pointed out the positive impact of QCOs on sectors like toys and plywood, stating that these initiatives have bolstered Indian industries while effectively limiting the influx of inferior imports.
During the second edition of ‘Udyog Samagam 2025’, hosted by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), he reiterated the Central Government’s dedication to assisting states and Union Territories in delivering top-notch products to consumers nationwide.
Goyal stressed the significance of robust collaboration between the Centre and states in propelling industrial growth, noting that each state in India has developed commendable practices that can serve as exemplary models for others, fostering a spirit of mutual learning to expedite industrial advancement.
He urged states and Union Territories to create third-party mechanisms to effectively manage and monitor industrial incentives, ensuring prompt disbursement and execution to sustain industry confidence.
Furthermore, he highlighted that a strong alliance between the government and industry is crucial for economic development, emphasizing the need for law and order, timely approvals, and minimal physical interaction.
Commending Madhya Pradesh’s initiative of providing ready-made industrial facilities at affordable rates, which has led to the creation of thousands of jobs, he encouraged other states to implement similar strategies. He also proposed the adoption of escrow and RBI-linked methods for incentive payments, competitive power tariffs, and self-certification systems to enhance trust and streamline the business environment.
Goyal called for active involvement from states and Union Territories to ensure that all industrial activities are in harmony with environmental protection.
Using the fisheries sector under the PM Matsya Sampada Yojana as an example, Goyal mentioned the government’s initiatives in supporting cold storage and cooperative-based acquisition of deep-sea vessels through financial backing.
He further encouraged states to prioritize innovation, skill development, women's participation, startups, and deep-tech ventures.
