New Delhi, Sep 6 (NationPress) On Saturday, Chandigarh University unveiled its ambitious project ‘Campus Tank’ at the Constitution Club of India, designed to enhance India's startup ecosystem by promoting synergies among academia, industry, and investors.
Pro-Chancellor of Chandigarh University, Himani Sood, emphasized the crucial role of government initiatives and collaborative efforts in establishing India as a global leader in startups.
“The government has been pivotal in transforming India into a top player in startup incubation and establishment. From being third, we are now on the path to becoming number one, making Viksit Bharat a tangible reality instead of just a dream, thanks to the combined efforts of the government, angel investors, and academia,” she stated.
She pointed out that more than 51 percent of India's startups are now originating from tier-2 and tier-3 cities, calling this a remarkable trend.
Highlighting successful unicorns such as PhonePe, Byju’s, OYO, and Ola, she asserted that startups and entrepreneurs will be the shining stars of Viksit Bharat.
She called for collective efforts from government entities, investors, and educational institutions to join forces in creating the best unicorns in the nation, Bharat.
Chancellor of Chandigarh University and Rajya Sabha MP, Satnam Singh Sandhu, stressed the importance of visionary leadership in propelling the nation forward.
“The growth and progress of any nation hinge on its vision shaped by its leadership. We are fortunate to have had strong leadership over the past 11 years, guiding us towards an Atmanirbhar Bharat and a Viksit Bharat,” he remarked.
Union Minister Jitender Singh praised the launch as a groundbreaking initiative that could reshape industry-academia relationships.
“Campus Tank is dedicated to startups, facilitating public-private collaborations with universities playing a vital role. I am confident that this trend will proliferate across India,” he commented.
He underscored the necessity for robust industry connections to fortify India’s startup momentum, stating, “We are already ranked third globally in the startup ecosystem, and this startup movement requires substantial industry ties.”
