Mumbai, Aug 16 (NationPress) Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday aimed his remarks at the Shiv Sena-UBT, asserting that a significant change is unavoidable in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), which has been under the control of the Thackeray faction for more than 25 years.
He participated in the Parivartan Dahi Handi festival at Worli Jamboree Ground, situated in the assembly constituency of Aaditya Thackeray, a former minister and legislator from the Shiv Sena-UBT.
During the Dahi Handi event, he emphasized that the BJP-led Mahayuti is fully equipped and ready to triumph in the BMC elections, while minimizing the potential collaboration between the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena-UBT and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena led by Raj Thackeray.
"Change is unavoidable in the Municipal Corporation (in Mumbai). We have shattered the vessel of wrongdoing within the Municipal Corporation. Pap ki handi ab toot chuki hai aur ab aisi handi dobara nahin lagne wali (The pot of sin has been broken; now the pot of development will be established). We will strive to distribute the benefits from this pot of development to the citizens," declared the chief minister, who was joined by Ashish Shekar, the Cultural Affairs Minister and Mumbai BJP president.
He extended his wishes for a joyous Dahi Handi and Janmashtami.
Without directly referencing the Thackeray faction, CM Fadnavis remarked, "You (reporters) are aware of where it (the benefit) was directed. The public knows who profited from it."
Intensifying his critique of the Thackeray camp, the chief minister pointed out that there were limitations on Dahi Handi and Ganesh Utsav imposed by the Uddhav Thackeray-led government during its administration. He added that these restrictions were lifted once the previous Eknath Shinde-led government assumed control.
"Currently, there exists a Mahayuti government, and all prohibitions have been eliminated. There is a remarkable spirit surrounding the celebrations. Dahi Handi is being observed with great enthusiasm," he noted.
"Despite the rainfall since last night, which is expected to continue today, the enthusiasm of Govinda is greater than any downpour. Our Govinda's fervor and excitement never wane," he emphasized.
As a side note, CM Fadnavis plans to attend 14 Dahi Handi events in Mumbai, Thane, and Bhiwandi, while Deputy Chief Minister Shinde will participate in over 20 such gatherings throughout the day.
In anticipation of the upcoming municipal elections in Mumbai, Thane, and nearby regions, the Mahayuti has initiated an extensive outreach during the Dahi Handi and Janmashtami celebrations.
CM Fadnavis and DCMs Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar have asserted that change is on the horizon for the BMC elections specifically, as the Mahayuti is poised to surpass the Shiv Sena-UBT, MNS, Congress, and NCP-SP.
