New Delhi, Sep 17 (NationPress) Women from Samanpur village in Kabirdham district are sharing their heartfelt appreciation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has made their dream of having a safe and permanent residence a reality through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Gramin (PMAY-G). This initiative, launched by the Government of India under the Ministry of Rural Development, aims to provide sturdy homes with essential amenities to those living in 'kutcha (temporary)' homes or lacking shelter.
In Kabirdham, this initiative has been transformative, particularly for women who previously endured challenging living conditions.
Gangotri, a resident of Samanpur, expressed her joy, saying, “I used to live in a hut with a thatched roof. During the rains, water would leak through, flooding our home. We couldn't sleep at night. But now, thanks to Modi ji, I have a solid home of my own. I am very happy and thank him with all my heart,” she shared, her eyes filled with tears of happiness.
Chandrakumari Patel, another beneficiary, shared her experience: “Ten years ago, we lived in a slum-like hut. Life was tremendously difficult, especially during the monsoons. But because Prime Minister Modi thought about poor laborers like us, we now have proper homes. I feel proud and safe in my own house.”
Both women sent their warm birthday regards to Prime Minister Modi, who celebrated his 75th birthday today, expressing gratitude for prioritizing the welfare of the rural poor.
The PMAY-G program offers financial support to eligible rural families to construct pucca homes equipped with facilities like water supply, sanitation, and electricity. This initiative is part of the government's broader mission to achieve 'Housing for All' while enhancing the living standards in rural India.
In Kabirdham district alone, the scheme has notably decreased rural homelessness and uplifted the dignity and security of numerous families.
For women like Gangotri and Chandrakumari, a permanent roof over their heads signifies more than just a structure; it symbolizes hope, dignity, and inclusion in India’s development journey.
