Patna, June 28 (NationPress) LJP (Ram Vilas) President Chirag Paswan has fiercely rebutted Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, claiming that the RJD’s 15-year governance in the 1990s has led to Bihar's struggle with backwardness. He argued that Tejashwi’s focus on his 20 months in power is ill-founded.
“Tejashwi speaks of 20 months, but we must not forget the 15 years his family had, which devastated Bihar,” stated Chirag, emphasizing that many Biharis were forced to migrate due to the jungle raj instigated by the RJD.
He pointed out that the 1990s were characterized by loot, murders, kidnappings, and rapes occurring in broad daylight, which has severely damaged Bihar’s reputation both nationally and internationally. He urged first-time voters born after 2005 to understand why this period is often referred to as “jungle raj.”
In response to Tejashwi’s criticism regarding the revision of the voter list, Chirag stood by the Election Commission, reinforcing that under the Representation of the People Act, 1950, regular updates are essential to eliminate fraudulent voters and deceased individuals.
“Those concerned about this process are already anxious and seeking excuses to avoid accountability when the results are announced,” Paswan remarked, asserting that the RJD lacks the dedication to engage with the democratic processes.
Countering Tejashwi’s assertion that the RJD aims to distribute pens while the government distributes guns, Chirag replied: “If such an educational focus had been present during their rule in the 90s, Bihar wouldn’t be in need of such initiatives today.”
Chirag firmly condemned a recent rape incident in West Bengal, blaming the Mamata Banerjee administration for promoting anarchy and calling for President’s Rule in the state.
“Election violence and crimes like murder and rape are rampant in Bengal, with ruling party leaders often shielding criminals. The Centre should impose President’s Rule and conduct fresh elections to restore order,” he stated.
Addressing Tejashwi’s ‘Damaad Aayog’ remarks, Paswan responded: “They need to introspect and clarify how their family members attained positions of power. When Lalu Prasad was imprisoned, their mother assumed the role of CM. Under what legal framework did that occur?”
He stressed that positions should be awarded based on merit, not familial connections, and that the government has the constitutional right to appoint qualified individuals.
Chirag Paswan announced that LJP (RV) will organize a ‘Bahujan Samvad’ in Rajgir, Nalanda, gathering people from various districts to counter the misinformation disseminated by the opposition regarding reservations and the Constitution.
“As long as I am alive and part of the central government, I will serve as a guardian for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, OBCs, and minorities, ensuring their rights are safeguarded,” he asserted.
