New Delhi, Jan 18 (NationPress) Union Minister for Agriculture, Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan convened a review meeting in Bengaluru with the Agriculture, Rural Development, and Revenue Ministers of Karnataka this past Saturday.
Currently, the Union Agriculture Minister is on a two-day trip to Karnataka.
The agenda of the meeting revolved around Karnataka’s agricultural programs, rural development strategies, revenue-related efforts, and the execution of central government initiatives.
During the dialogue, Shivraj Singh Chouhan underscored the need for cooperation, stating, “While some engage in the politics of blame, we advocate the politics of development and public welfare. India operates as a federal democracy, and our main aim is to provide comprehensive support to the state government under central schemes, guaranteeing that Karnataka’s development progresses without any obstacles.”
The Union Minister encouraged the Karnataka government to promptly utilize previously allocated funds and delineated the continuous backing from the central government. He revealed the release of an additional Rs 97 crore under the Watershed Scheme, following a request from the state’s Revenue Minister. Recognizing the Agriculture Minister’s appeal for extra funding under the Mechanization Scheme, Chouhan confirmed that this request has been approved.
Additionally, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare will also tackle staffing needs under the ATMA Scheme. Throughout the review, ministers presented several proposals regarding development projects and schemes, which Chouhan vowed to assess meticulously.
Emphasizing a broader vision, the Union Minister articulated, “Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, we are dedicated to creating a developed India by 2047. A developed Karnataka is integral to this vision. The central government is committed to leaving no stone unturned in fostering Karnataka’s advancement. I call upon the state government to quickly utilize funds and submit utilization certificates to ensure sustained support from the Centre.”
Shivraj Singh Chouhan reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s promise to secure a permanent home for every poor family. He reported that since assuming office for the third term, the central government sanctioned the construction of 2,26,175 houses for Karnataka in September, with funds already allocated. He further announced an expansion of this target, with an additional 4,76,556 houses approved, raising the total goal for this financial year to 7,02,731 houses for the state.
“Under Prime Minister Modi’s guidance, aiding the poor is an esteemed duty. Guaranteeing that every poor family has a permanent home is not merely an objective but a mission for us. I have implored the Karnataka government to hasten the construction process so that no family is left homeless,” Chouhan asserted.
