Bengaluru, Jan 18 (NationPress) Union Minister of Agriculture, Farmers Welfare, and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan stated on Saturday that the Karnataka government has yet to make use of the funds allocated by the Central government.

In response to Congress' claims of inequity in fund distribution by the Central government, he informed reporters, "I am present in Karnataka, offering funds. The Karnataka government has not made requests, yet I have still announced funds."

"Our focus is on the politics of development and the welfare of citizens. Several schemes from the Central government remain underutilized by the Karnataka government. I prefer not to elaborate further on this," he remarked.

He urged the state government to utilize the funds efficiently and provide the necessary certificates.

The Union Minister mentioned that he plans to visit Shivamogga to meet with betelnut farmers.

He emphasized that a prosperous Karnataka is essential for achieving a developed India by 2047 under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana, the Central government sanctioned the construction of 2,57,246 houses in Karnataka in September, he noted.

"We have asked the Karnataka government to promptly utilize the previously allocated funds. Furthermore, as per the request of the Minister for Revenue, an additional grant of Rs 97 crore will be allocated to Karnataka. The Minister for Agriculture also requested funds for the mechanization scheme, which we have approved. Additionally, all three ministers have submitted further requests. We have also agreed to provide more staff under the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) scheme," he stated.

When questioned about the elections for the state BJP president in Karnataka, which he is overseeing, the Union Minister replied, "Following the district-level elections for a fixed number of seats, the process for electing the state president will commence shortly."

Regarding the nomination process, he mentioned, "In the BJP, even booth presidents are elected. Presidents are selected through elections or collective agreement, ensuring a consensus-driven decision."
