Kolkata, April 24 (NationPress) Senior Congress leader and five-time former party Lok Sabha member Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury demanded the most stringent actions against Pakistan following the terror attack in Kashmir’s Pahalgam. He asserted that the government led by Modi should contemplate a military strike on Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

“All political factions have clearly stated that the Union government is justified in taking Pakistan-occupied Kashmir under its control if deemed necessary. The level of violence inflicted by those originating from Pakistan and supported by its government is beyond comprehension. The Modi-led government should consider an attack on Muzaffarabad in PoK,” Chowdhury conveyed to IANS.

The Congress figure noted that the Union government has already suspended the Indus Water Treaty (IWT) and is actively working towards severing diplomatic relations with Pakistan.

“The entire nation is calling for the most robust retaliation against Pakistan. Anything less will not appease the citizens of India,” Chowdhury remarked to IANS.

He added that the support from global powers following the Pahalgam massacre has provided the Union government with a pivotal opportunity to execute the strongest possible measures against Pakistan.

“I am not in a position to advise the Union government on this matter. However, I firmly believe that an attack on Pakistan is crucial at this moment,” Chowdhury emphasized.

At least 26 tourists lost their lives on Tuesday when armed gunmen indiscriminately fired upon civilians in Baisaran, Jammu and Kashmir.

Eyewitness testimonies reveal that a group of heavily armed terrorists emerged from the adjacent forests and opened fire on civilians, the majority of whom were tourists.

Baisaran is a small meadow located three to four kilometers from the Pahalgam market, accessible to tourists primarily via horseback as there are no motorable roads.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to New Delhi on Wednesday morning after cutting short his trip to Saudi Arabia due to the terror incident.

He conducted a brief meeting with NSA Ajit Doval, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri at the airport. PM Modi condemned the terror attack on Tuesday, affirming that those responsible will face justice and reiterating India’s “unwavering” commitment to combat terrorism.
