Mumbai, April 25 (NationPress) Supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to pursue those responsible for the Pahalgam terror attack, Maharashtra Congress leader and former MP Husain Dalwai stated on Friday that it is essential to take decisive action rather than merely make announcements.
In an interview with IANS, Dalwai labeled the attack on April 22 as “humiliating” and asserted that India must exact a fitting retribution.
He expressed approval of Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, visiting Kashmir following the terror incident. “It’s commendable that Rahulji is visiting the state. He consistently goes to places where tragedies occur,” he remarked.
The former MP’s comments emerged a day after the government convened a meeting with leaders from opposition parties, particularly post the Pahalgam attack that claimed 26 lives.
Dalwai criticized the announcement regarding India’s counter-offensive made by PM Modi at a political event in Bihar. “Should such matters be discussed at an election rally in Bihar?” he questioned.
“Just like Indira Gandhi, why don’t you divide Pakistan?” he suggested, advocating for stringent measures and attempts to fracture Pakistan.
“India should aim to disintegrate Pakistan. The Afghans and Punjabis are already separate,” he emphasized, urging the government to declare war rather than be satisfied with surgical strikes.
The Congress leader dismissed the notion that there was a political motive behind Uddhav Thackeray missing the all-party meeting on the terror attack.
“He (Uddhav) was traveling, and there’s no other reason to interpret it politically or as opposition,” he stated.
Dalwai also welcomed RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat’s call for a united stand against terror, commenting: “This is positive. The nation has historically united through the efforts of Mahatma Gandhi, but it is you who create divisions among communities.”
