CIDCO's Navi Mumbai Metro Achieves Triple ISO Certification

Navi Mumbai, Dec 16 (NationPress) The City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra Ltd. (CIDCO)’s Navi Mumbai Metro has successfully obtained three ISO certifications for Quality Management, Environmental Management, and Occupational Health & Safety standards, as per an official announcement made on Monday.

Managed by the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (MMRCL), the certifications (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001) were awarded during the inaugural year of operations, received by CIDCO Joint Managing Director Shantanu Goel.

“These ISO certifications reinforce CIDCO’s commitment to delivering world-class metro services while emphasizing quality, sustainability, and safety. It also highlights CIDCO’s significant role in urban development and infrastructure sectors,” stated CIDCO Vice-Chairman and MD Vijay Singhal.

This achievement makes the Navi Mumbai Metro line the sole metro system in the state to receive all three ISO recognitions, conferred by the British Standards Institution, he added.

Officials noted that these esteemed ISO certifications serve as a testament to CIDCO’s ongoing dedication to enhancing the operational excellence of the Navi Mumbai Metro, ensuring a safe, reliable, and sustainable transportation service for the residents of Navi Mumbai and its nearby areas.

ISO 9001 emphasizes the organization’s commitment to delivering consistently high-quality services, ensuring customer satisfaction, and improving the operational efficiency of the metro system.

ISO 14001 highlights CIDCO’s devotion to sustainable practices in metro operations, aiming to minimize the environmental footprint, boost resource efficiency, and support the preservation of the region's natural environment.

Lastly, ISO 45001 illustrates CIDCO’s proactive stance on protecting the health and safety of all employees and workers involved in metro operations, ensuring a safe workplace through rigorous health and safety protocols, as explained by officials.

Goel mentioned that CIDCO has collaborated with MMRCL to enforce stringent systems and protocols across every aspect of metro operation and maintenance, as part of their efforts to adhere to global standards and enhance the quality of service offered to commuters.

With these certifications, CIDCO is setting a new standard for metro systems in India, affirming its leadership in urban infrastructure development and is now ready to provide enhanced services, prioritizing quality, safety, and environmental sustainability.

The Navi Mumbai Metro line Phase I commenced operations in November 2023, featuring a length of 11.1 km, which is part of the forthcoming 23.43 km fully elevated project linking Belapur-Khandeshwar with 20 stations along the route.
