New Delhi, May 20 (NationPress) Geeta Samota, a sub-inspector with the CISF, reached the summit of Mount Everest on Monday, igniting celebrations within the force. The CISF has plans for a full in-house expedition to the world’s highest peak in 2026, according to an official announcement made on Tuesday.
The young climber hails from Sikar district in Rajasthan and stood triumphantly atop the 'roof of the world' early Monday. This achievement positions her as a symbol of the CISF’s commitment to women empowerment, stated Ajay Dahiya, Deputy Inspector General of CISF.
Sharing Geeta's insights post-summit, he remarked, “Mountains serve as a great equalizer. They don’t judge based on gender. Only those with that unique X-Factor can reach such formidable heights.”
DIG Dahiya expressed, “Her remarkable journey and successful summit act as a guiding light for the youth of India and are a source of immense pride for the entire Central Armed Police Forces community.”
Geeta's prior accomplishments have earned her prestigious awards, including the International Women’s Day 2023 Award from the Delhi Commission for Women and the Giving Wings to Dreams Award 2023 from the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
The CISF has actively supported her endeavors, facilitating her participation in various expeditions and providing essential financial backing, including funding for her winter acclimatization training at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (ABVIMAS) in Manali, leading up to her successful Everest expedition, as noted by DIG Dahiya.
He further highlighted that Geeta has not only conquered peaks but has also dismantled gender stereotypes, showcasing that women can excel in the most challenging domains. Her message to aspiring girls is straightforward: dream big, work diligently, and never lose hope.
“Building on her success, the CISF now intends to send a complete CISF Mountaineering Team to conquer Mount Everest in 2026,” stated DIG Dahiya.
The Director General and all members of the CISF have extended their congratulations to Geeta, who comes from a humble family in Chak village and has four sisters.
