NDA leaders back PM Modi's fuel conservation appeal amid global energy crisis

New Delhi, 11 MayNDA leaders have rallied behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal urging Indian citizens to conserve fuel, reduce unnecessary travel, avoid non-essential gold purchases, and adopt work-from-home practices wherever feasible, as geopolitical tensions continue to roil global energy markets.

Why the Appeal Was Made

The Prime Minister's call comes against the backdrop of sustained disruptions in international oil and gas supply chains, driven by ongoing conflicts involving the United States, Iran, and Israel. Key maritime energy corridors, particularly the Strait of Hormuz — through which a significant share of the world's oil and gas transits — have remained under pressure, raising concerns about supply continuity.

Despite these external shocks, India's fuel supply system and LPG prices have remained relatively stable, a fact NDA leaders attributed to coordinated government management and strategic planning.

What NDA Leaders Said

Janata Dal (United) National Working President and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Jha said India had so far navigated the global disruption effectively.
