In response to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami's direct orders, immediate financial help has been approved for Angel Chakma's father, Tarun Prasad Chakma.
An initial amount of Rs 4,12,500 has already been disbursed. This aid falls under the provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, and the Civil Rights Protection Act, 1955.
Thanks to the Chief Minister's directives, the case was swiftly forwarded by the Senior Superintendent of Police, Dehradun, to the District Social Welfare Officer, ensuring quick approval of compensation for the family.
The district-level committee promptly completed the approval process based on the joint investigation report from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate and the Deputy Superintendent of Police, allowing for the financial support to be sanctioned and the first cheque to be issued to Angel Chakma’s father.
CM Dhami showed personal engagement and empathy throughout this process.
On Monday, he reached out to Tarun Prasad Chakma via phone call.
Expressing his deep condolences over Angel Chakma’s murder, the Chief Minister informed the family that five suspects have already been apprehended.
He also mentioned that efforts are ongoing to locate another suspect, for whom a reward has been announced.
The Chief Minister reassured the mourning family of full backing from the Uttarakhand administration.
He emphasized that he is personally distressed by this incident and understands the family's anguish, reaffirming the state government's commitment to ensure the most severe penalties for those responsible.
