“Diseases do not discriminate based on borders or socio-economic conditions. It is our duty to unite, share knowledge, and seek solutions across borders,” the Chief Minister expressed.
He further emphasized that events like ‘Oncology Beyond Borders’ serve as vital platforms for collaboration, sharing insights, and innovating in cancer treatment.
Fadnavis mentioned that institutions such as the National Cancer Institute are crucial in offering advanced treatments that benefit patients from India and beyond.
He also brought attention to the establishment of the Maha Cancer Foundation in Maharashtra, which aims to construct a state-wide cancer care network using a hub-and-spoke model to enhance access to quality treatment.
The Chief Minister underscored the importance of research, innovation, and the increased utilization of medtech, biotech, and artificial intelligence to improve cancer detection and treatment results.
He stated that early diagnosis and technological progress are essential for enhancing survival rates and alleviating the overall impact of cancer.
During the conference, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the National Cancer Institute and the Ministry of Health of Guyana to collaborate on cancer treatment. A special edition of the scientific journal ‘The Wings’ was also launched.
