Chennai, July 10 (NationPress) DMK President and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Thursday sharply criticized AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami for his statewide campaign ‘Save Tamil Nadu’, asserting that there is no need to save a state that has already been liberated from the misrule of the former AIADMK administration.
Instead, he humorously suggested that Palaniswami should concentrate on “saving the AIADMK from the BJP’s grip.”
While addressing a public event in Tiruvarur, where he inaugurated completed projects, laid the groundwork for new initiatives, and distributed welfare aid, CM Stalin emphasized that the Dravidian model government under his leadership is a continuation of the vision of the late leader M. Karunanidhi.
“This government has guaranteed comprehensive development across various sectors,” he stated.
Pointing out significant accomplishments in the agriculture sector, CM Stalin highlighted that the Mettur dam has been releasing water on the traditional date of June 12 exclusively under the current DMK regime.
This has resulted in increased paddy farming and enhanced food production. “Farmers are also receiving better prices for their crops,” Stalin remarked.
Announcing several development projects for Tiruvarur district, CM Stalin declared that a new commercial complex will be constructed in the Jubilee Market area for Rs 11 crore, along with the establishment of a Tiruvarur Model School in Nannilam at the cost of Rs 56 crore, a Government Arts and Science College for Women in Mannargudi, and the renovation of local water bodies costing Rs 43 crore.
A detailed project report for a Nannilam bypass road will be prepared shortly, and a statue of Nel Jayaraman will be erected in Thiruthuraipoondi, he mentioned.
Despite the state facing a financial crisis and the Centre withholding its rightful fund share, CM Stalin affirmed that his government is relentlessly pursuing development projects.
Taking a jab at Palaniswami, he remarked, “How can you save Tamil Nadu when you cannot even save the AIADMK from the BJP? Previously, you were the dubbing artist for the BJP; now, you’ve become its full-time spokesperson.”
In response to EPS’ criticism regarding the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department's establishment of educational institutions, CM Stalin noted that this practice dates back to the tenure of former CM M. Bakthavachalam.
“The BJP government at the Centre opposes education, and EPS appears to be echoing their stance,” he commented.
CM Stalin also challenged Palaniswami to press the BJP-led Centre to approve the pending Kalaignar University Bill with Governor R.N. Ravi.
“If necessary, we will fight legally to establish the university in Kumbakonam,” Stalin pledged.
