Bhopal, Jan 24 (NationPress) In a renewed critique of the Congress party regarding the legacy of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav asserted on Friday that the venerable party has exploited the Constitution for its own advantage and is now "shedding crocodile tears".

Speaking to the press on Friday, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav emphasized that Madhya Pradesh, the birthplace of Dr. Ambedkar, is advancing with the principle of "equality" and "co-existence".

"Congress is performing theatrics to conceal its misdeeds, but the citizens of the nation and Madhya Pradesh have discerned their true nature. What Congress did to Mahatma Gandhi's family, their actions against Dr. Ambedkar, and their misuse of the Constitution are all widely recognized," CM Yadav remarked.

The Chief Minister's comments came in response to a new controversy regarding the removal and relocation of statues of Dr. Ambedkar and Sant Shiromani Ravidas in Indore on Thursday night.

Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Jitu Patwari posted a video on his social media account X, alleging that Ambedkar's statue was taken away from the Shanti Nagar area in Indore late Thursday night. "The statues of Dr. Ambedkar and Sant Ravidas were removed in a disrespectful manner and were handled with utter disregard. This is not merely an insult; it is the epitome of crime," Patwari's social media message stated.

Patwari criticized the ruling BJP, asserting that the Indore incident serves as further evidence of the BJP's anti-Ambedkar mindset. "I vehemently condemn this action and demand that strict measures be taken against those responsible! Babasaheb's statue must be reinstated with full honor at once, as it was before," he added.

The opposing Congress and ruling BJP in Madhya Pradesh have been engaged in an exchange of accusations concerning Ambedkar's legacy as both parties prepare events for his birth anniversary. While the Congress will initiate its ‘Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan’ campaign from Ambedkar’s birthplace in Mhow on January 27, the BJP has also announced its initiative, ‘Samvidhan Gaurav Diwas’, with events scheduled throughout the state.

On the Congress front, party president Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, and Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will spearhead the ‘Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan’ campaign from Mhow, Ambedkar’s birthplace, situated 25 km from Indore.
