Raipur, Aug 31 (NationPress) In a new controversy surrounding Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra, a police complaint has been lodged against her under legal provisions for inciting enmity and posing a threat to national integrity due to her purportedly objectionable statements regarding Union Home Minister Amit Shah, an official reported on Sunday.
The complaint was initiated by a resident of Chhattisgarh, Gopal Samanto, on Saturday, according to police sources.
Samanto contended that Moitra's comments were unconstitutional, inciting fear among Bangladeshi refugees who have been residing in Raipur’s Mana Camp since 1971.
In her alleged controversial remarks made on Friday in Nadia district of West Bengal, the Trinamool Congress MP accused the Union Home Ministry of security lapses at the border and stated that the head of HM Shah should be severed for failing to prevent the infiltration of Bangladeshis into India.
A video capturing her interaction with reporters in Bengali, where she made these controversial comments, has since gone viral, leading to widespread backlash from BJP leaders.
Furthermore, she accused HM Shah of attempting to shift the blame for infiltration onto the Mamata Banerjee administration in West Bengal.
On Saturday, Delhi BJP MLA Ravinder Singh Negi also filed a written complaint at the Madhu Vihar police station in East Delhi against Moitra.
The complaint also referenced Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav, highlighting a recent incident during the Voter Adhikar Yatra, where supporters of Congress and RJD used offensive language towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the stage.
Negi remarked to IANS: "In a democracy, individuals should not have unchecked freedom to make derogatory remarks against the Prime Minister and Home Minister. I condemn this... Mahua Moitra has crossed all bounds with her derogatory statements against the Home Minister... Their frustration stems from the fact that infiltrators are being repatriated."
BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh also criticized Moitra, labeling her remarks as a "stain on democratic politics."
Uttar Pradesh Minister Sanjay Nishad further condemned her statements, stating to IANS, "This is purely out of desperation. The public stands behind PM Modi, Amit Shah, and the NDA. Such statements reflect their frustration. I denounce these comments."
