New Delhi, Aug 30 (NationPress) In response to Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra's comments directed at Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Samajwadi Party spokesperson Fakhrul Hasan Chand criticized the language used, labeling it as “entirely inappropriate.”
In a statement to IANS, Fakhrul Hasan remarked: “The Samajwadi Party holds that the words chosen by the TMC MP are entirely inappropriate and such expressions should be avoided. Nevertheless, the BJP bears the responsibility for preventing any form of intrusion, and if there is a failure in this regard, that accountability lies with the BJP as well.”
Mahua Moitra's comments sparked a political uproar as she accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah of failing to halt infiltration from Bangladesh.
The controversial statement, which allegedly suggested that HM Shah’s “head should be cut off and placed on the table,” has faced widespread backlash, prompting opposition parties to distance themselves from such rhetoric.
BJP leaders have called for accountability from the Trinamool Congress and insisted that such remarks should not go unchallenged.
Moitra made these statements during a media interaction in Nadia district, West Bengal, where she accused the Union government of neglecting its border security duties.
When asked about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent trip to Japan, Fakhrul Hasan provided a measured perspective.
“Improved relations with other nations are what the Samajwadi Party, along with the entire country, desires. However, the management of our foreign relations and the recent decline in ties raise significant concerns that warrant reflection,” he stated.
“It is essential for the government to strengthen these relationships, enhance trade, and maintain amicable ties, as this is crucial for the nation’s development. Therefore, the Samajwadi Party will support any decisions made in the interest of the country,” he concluded.
