New Delhi, Aug 30 (NationPress) The Congress party has taken a firm stance against Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra for her recent inflammatory comments directed at Union Home Minister Amit Shah, which have stirred a wave of political backlash. Moitra reportedly accused HM Shah of inadequately addressing the issue of infiltration from Bangladesh and shockingly stated that his head should be “cut off and put on the table.”
In response to her statements, Congress leader Udit Raj expressed strong disapproval of the language used, labeling it “inappropriate,” even if uttered in a moment of passion.
“Such remarks, irrespective of the emotional context, are unacceptable,” Udit Raj communicated to IANS.
“Bengali citizens often endure harassment simply because they struggle with Hindi. They are unjustly labeled as Bangladeshis or Rohingyas and subjected to mistreatment. However, this does not excuse such hostile expressions,” he elaborated.
Udit Raj further critiqued comments made by former US President Donald Trump, who defended the tariffs enacted during his administration. Trump claimed that removing these tariffs would be “disastrous for the country,” despite a US court ruling many of them illegal.
“We are indifferent to the decisions of the US court—it’s their domestic issue,” Raj remarked.
“Nevertheless, Trump’s 50 percent tariffs on India have significantly impacted our economy. Virtually every sector has suffered. Some estimates indicate that over 1 crore individuals could face job losses. Yet, the government remains silent on this matter.”
He also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, insinuating that he avoids addressing tough questions.
“I cannot fathom why PM Modi is so apprehensive. This moment calls for us to remember former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. She did not shy away—she engaged directly with the public. In contrast, PM Modi utilizes media to generate headlines but seldom provides substantive answers himself.”
Udit Raj also commented on the recent appointment of BSP chief Mayawati’s nephew, Akash Anand, as the party’s National Convenor.
“This marks the third occurrence. Much like before, if the BJP issues commands, he will be removed once more,” Raj asserted.
“He was dismissed previously after his earlier appointments. What is the point if a single statement from him prompts another directive from the BJP for his removal?”
Additionally, he condemned a recent violent incident at the Kalkaji Temple in Delhi, where a man lost his life following a dispute over Chunni Prasad.
“This is utterly unacceptable. Actions must be taken against those accountable. Such lawlessness cannot be tolerated. I vehemently denounce the incident,” Raj told IANS.
According to police reports, the victim—35-year-old Yogendra Singh, a long-time sewadaar at the temple and a resident of Fattepur in Uttar Pradesh's Hardoi district—was attacked after a heated argument on Friday night. Authorities received a PCR call around 9:30 PM, and police are now investigating the incident after apprehending one individual.
