New Delhi, Aug 18 (NationPress) Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan criticized the Congress and other opposition parties for their disruption in the Lok Sabha. “Why is it that whenever India’s global prestige rises, Congress appears to be in distress?” he questioned.
The Lok Sabha was meant to engage in a discussion on ‘India’s First Astronaut at the International Space Station: The Role of the Space Programme in Propelling India Towards Development by 2047’. Yet, the session was marred by uproar and chaos instigated by Congress and other opposition members.
In a video message, Chouhan expressed his dismay, stating, “There are key moments in a nation’s journey that should be above political squabbles. Whenever India has felt pride, the whole nation has celebrated — yet Congress has raised objections and cast doubts.”
He referenced notable moments, such as the successful landing of Chandrayaan on the Moon’s South Pole, the surgical strikes by the Indian Army, and Operation Sindoor, highlighting that while the nation stood united in pride, Congress opted to question and criticize.
“During air strikes or our military’s decisive actions, as the entire country praises our forces, Congress continues to inquire: ‘But how much damage was inflicted?’” he remarked.
Discussing India’s scientific achievements during the COVID-19 pandemic, Chouhan mentioned: “Our scientists successfully developed a vaccine, and under the Prime Minister’s guidance, it reached over 100 nations. Lives were saved. Yet, Congress trivialized it as ‘Modi’s vaccine’ and advised people against taking it.”
Commending the recent space mission, Chouhan celebrated Shubhanshu Shukla, India’s astronaut who journeyed to the International Space Station, calling him a symbol of national pride.
“At a moment when the nation was set to celebrate him and Parliament was to acknowledge his remarkable feat, Congress chose to create turmoil in the Well of the House. Shouldn’t all political parties unite to honor such achievements?”
He continued, “The world is in awe of India’s ascent — is it too much to anticipate Congress engaging constructively in such discussions?”
In a pointed remark, Chouhan questioned, “Why does Congress experience unease whenever India’s global stature elevates? Their protests, disruptions, and skepticism only diminish the honor of those who bring glory to the nation. Is this what they define as patriotism? The entire country is observing — and Congress must respond.”
