Hyderabad, July 2 (NationPress) K.T. Rama Rao, the Working President of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), has accused Congress party leaders in Telangana of unlawfully taking lands designated for farmers by the former BRS administration as compensation for their properties acquired for the Hyderabad Green Pharma City.
On Wednesday, Rama Rao stated that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had guaranteed that if Congress gained power, the Pharma City initiative would be scrapped and farmers' lands would be restored, yet he has not fulfilled his promise.
“Mr. Revanth Reddy, you declared that the 'Hyderabad Green Pharma City' project would be terminated and the land would revert to the farmers if Congress won the election. Not only have you failed to deliver on this pledge; your Congress leaders are now acting like vultures, preying on the compensatory lands allocated to these farmers by the KCR Government!” Rama Rao expressed on his X account.
“Why are the plots meant as compensation for Pharma City now being registered in the names of Congress leaders? Why are farmers being robbed of their rightful compensation? Why are these lands being registered at prices lower than a quarter of the market value?” questioned the BRS leader.
“It takes a disgraceful Congress government to exploit farmers who contributed their lands for the development of the state,” Rama Rao added.
Previously, Rama Rao had claimed that a significant land scam involving thousands of crores is behind the proposed cancellation of the Pharma City project.
He challenged the government's position, asserting that it misleads both the public and the judiciary by presenting conflicting narratives regarding the Pharma City project.
Rama Rao highlighted the government's inconsistent claims, saying, “On one side, they assert that Pharma City is cancelled, yet in the High Court, they argue it hasn't been cancelled. How can they mislead the judiciary in this manner?”
He further questioned the viability of the government’s alternative plans. “They speak of Future City, AI City, and Fourth City. Have they even secured an acre of land for these? How can they repurpose Pharma City lands without acquiring any new land?”
He reminded that the BRS government proposed Pharma City on 14,000 acres with an investment of Rs 64,000 crore. “The land was acquired under conditional acquisition and cannot be repurposed for other projects,” he clarified.
He warned that cancelling Pharma City would not only hinder industrial development but also lead to the loss of thousands of job opportunities in Telangana.
