Hyderabad, Dec 28 (NationPress) K.T. Rama Rao, the working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), has asserted that the Congress-led administration in Telangana is offloading 9,300 acres of industrial land valued at approximately Rs 5 lakh crore.

Rama Rao expressed his concerns on ‘X’, responding to a post by Congress MP Karti P. Chidambaram that discussed Infosys' sale of its prime land in Attibele, Karnataka to Puravankara for Rs 250 crore.

Chidambaram remarked that if the land was allocated at a concession for a particular purpose and was not utilized as intended, then Infosys lacks the right to sell it at a commercial price now. He urged for the land and proceeds to be returned to the Government of Karnataka.

In light of this, the BRS leader reiterated his claim about the Congress government's actions in Telangana, emphasizing that they are divesting industrial land worth Rs 5 lakh crore.

“These valuable lands were allocated by the government for a specific purpose (employment generation). Our demand remains the same. They cannot sell this land to profit their associates,” KTR stated.

“The land should be returned to the government and repurposed effectively for the citizens of Hyderabad and Telangana. We require land for schools, hospitals, housing for the underprivileged, parks, bus stands, and parking facilities,” he added.

Earlier this month, KTR accused the Congress government in Telangana of orchestrating a massive land “scam” amounting to Rs 5 lakh crore under the guise of the Hyderabad Industrial Land Transformation Policy.

He claimed that lands formerly allocated to industries for job creation are now being transferred to private entities.

The BRS leader charged that the government is reallocating industrial lands for constructing apartments, villas, and commercial complexes, showing a lack of interest in promoting industries.

KTR emphasized that while the market value for these lands stands at Rs 1 lakh per square yard, they are being handed over to private individuals for a mere Rs 4,000.

He cautioned real estate developers against falling for the government's “sale offer” and warned that once BRS regains power, they would reclaim these lands.

Point of View

The ongoing allegations regarding the sale of vast tracts of industrial land in Telangana highlight significant concerns about governance and accountability. The voices of opposition leaders like K.T. Rama Rao bring to light the importance of transparency in land deals, emphasizing the need for public resources to serve community interests rather than private gain.
